Cutting: After determining the glass thickness and the darkens of the glass desired by the customer, the ballistic glass begins manufacturing with glass cutting.

In this step, we must ensure that geometrically all glass reaches the perimeter size. This step manages to give the original size of the glass as much as possible.

Curvature: By adding heat, we manage to soften the glass to obtain the three-dimensional (3D) geometry of the glass.

The layers of glass get placed in an oven for vitrification (under 500°C); afterward, we place the glass in a different range (620°C) to bend it into the shape of a metal mold.

Each car required a personalized mold to ensure it fits the vehicle perfectly with minimal change to the original look.

LAMINATION: For this step, we use an autoclave to generate pressure and high temperatures, developing the adhesion of the different materials that make up ballistic glass.

The layers of glass are bagged and placed in an autoclave. Once the glass is out of the autoclave, it gets visually inspected.

100% of the glass needs to meet this quality control; if any debris, distortions, bubbles, or spots is found in the glass it gets discarded.

KEVLAR DOOR PANELS: In 1964 Stephanie Kwolek invented the fiber called Kevlar.

“Kevlar® is a heat-resistant para-aramid synthetic fiber with a molecular structure of many inter-chain bonds that make Kevlar® ballistic resistance.” - DuPont.

At ISBI Armor, we cut the panel into the exact shape of the door. It completely overlaps with the window. ISBI gives full coverage; others only protect 75% of the door.

QUALITY CONTROL: Throughout manufacturing the glass, ISBI’s top priority is to deliver high-quality products to our customers.

Our products are battle proven, and our vehicles have protected their occupants in numerous attacks from both automatic rifle fire and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Rest assured that our materials have been approved and certified after passing the most stringent ballistic tests.
